Reverend Laurie Thomas, Community Minister and leader within the disability community of Greater Lansing, will lead a prayer at the National “My Medicaid Matters” Rally in Washington D.C. Asked by the leaders and organizers of ADAPT, a grassroots organization that engages in non-violent direct action to ensure the civil and human rights of all people with disabilities. The rally is expected to draw a crowd of 1,000 or more supporters to Capitol Hill in response to reform measures that threaten cuts to Medicaid. As a person with Cerebral Palsy, Reverend Thomas considers it an honor to speak at this historical event in defense of the Disability Rights Movement within the United States.
